2nd Annual OSCD Summer Cup
Sunday, August 20, 2017
Judge: Dan Butcher
We are excited to announce the 2nd Annual OSCD Summer Cup is now open for registration. This year is extra exciting as there is a total solar eclipse the following day. It is noted that Salem, Oregon is one of the top places to view the eclipse. In respect to this amazing natural phenomenon, we are offing limited camping on our property to our out of town guests. All hotels, RV parks, and camping grounds are already sold out for the event, so please contact Tammy ASAP if you wish to camp as our spaces will go quickly.
Our Summer Cup is an unsanctioned agility event, no titles or qualifying scores will be awarded. What will be awarded is certainly more fun, money and cake! We will offer both an International Competition and a Speed Course competition.
The International Competition will consist of two rounds, Rd 1 Agility and Rd 2 Jumping. Agility will consist of all contacts, weave poles, jumps, and tunnels, while Jumping consists of jumps, tunnels, and weave poles. Course design will be based on FCI style courses. Scoring is time plus faults, no refusals. A knocked bar or missed contact are 5 points, and off course is 20 faults. There will be awards given for class placements as well as small dog and large dog awards for the combined rounds, CASH and CAKE! Sprinkles are for winners.
The Speed Course Competition will consist of one round of jumps and tunnels only, resembling a Steeplechase style course design. Scoring is time plus faults, no refusals. A knocked bar is 5 faults and an off course is 20 faults. Class placements will earn awards. CASH and Cookies!
Jump heights are based on AKC heights ( 4", 8", 12", 16", 20", 24"). You may choose the height that best suits your dog. We ask that dogs competing in the international event please be 18 months or older and that you use your best discretion when entering dogs in the speed course competition. Although we do not recommend training in the ring (no toys or treats allowed), you are allowed to fix a dropped bar or repeat a missed contact knowing that you will be disqualified. Remember, the International Competition is a combined class.
We will run all rounds outdoors on a well-maintained grass surface. All contact equipment is rubberized, weave poles have 24" spacing, jumps are displaceable and made of vinyl. There will be no chute, table, or triple jump used on course.
A potluck BBQ will follow the event. More information on the potluck will be provided in your confirmation.
